Casinos popularity increases faster than the Glee Fan Club.
According to a new report published by accounting and consulting firm RubinBrown, Land-based and online casino use showing an upwards trend.
In the country that produces the now super popular T.V hit Glee , the rise was most obvious in the US, where states like Missouri, Pennsylvania and Colorado all recorded jumps in casino use over the course of 2009. Colorado saw game-playing in the state rise by 2.65 per cent, Missouri by 2.85, and Pennsylvania by a whopping 21.6 per cent.
Partner in charge of RubinBrown’s Gaming Services Group Chelle Adams remarked that the recession has not deeply affected the casino industry. She said:
“People are staying closer to home and spending less on bigger travel destinations, allowing for the Midwest to continue creating capital projects.”
Increased popularity for online casino games has also been credited to the increased number of people going to land based casinos.
“We see an increasingly wider demographic of players enjoying online casino games, especially women and senior users. An increased confidence in the rules and game play of casino attractions such as craps and roulette mean a trip to a land casino is not as intimidating for your regular Joe who sees it as a source of entertainment not the grimy gambling den of sin that they were once portrayed as.” Emma Gilbert, MrCasinos.com
