Baccarat Odds

The precise odds of winning in Baccarat depend on the number of decks used during game play. Baccarat is typically played with a shoe of 8, 6, or 1 deck of cards. Below are the probabilities of winning with each type of game, based on whether you bet on the Banker, Player or Tie. Also included are the house edges, all in percentages. But it should be noted that, in general, each round of play has a 50% chance of the banker winning, and a 50% chance the player winning, and a very small chance of a tie.

8 Decks:

The probability of the Banker winning is 45.8597 percent. The probability of the Player winning is 44.6247 percent. The probability of Tie winning is 9.5156 percent. The house edge is 1.06 percent for Banker bets, 1.24% on Player bet, and 14.36% on Tie bet. The total number of card combinations here is 4,998,398,275,503,360.

6 Decks:

The probability of the Banker winning is 45.8653 percent. The probability of the Player winning is 44.6279 percent. The probability of Tie winning is 9.5069 percent. The house edge is 1.06 percent for Banker bets, 1.24% on Player bet, and 14.44% on Tie bet. The total number of card combinations here is 878,869,206,895,680.

1 Deck:

The probability of the Banker winning is 45.9624 percent. The probability of the Player winning is 44.676 percent. The probability of Tie winning is 9.3615 percent. The house edge is 1.01 percent for Banker bets, 1.29% on Player bet, and 15.75% on Tie bet. The total number of card combinations here is 14,658,134,400.
In games that pay out 9 to 1 in a Tie bet, for example how Binion’s Horseshoe in Las Vegas once did, and how many online casinos still do, the house edge is for 8 decks: 4.844%, 6 decks: 4.931, and 1 deck: 6.385%.
